UPD PHILOSOPHY


Rooted in Eastern wisdom and expressed through contemporary design, UPD (Unity – Prudence – Devotion | Thuận – Thiết – Thành | 順 – 設 – 誠) form the three pillars of UPD’s philosophy. We seek balance between nature and humanity, reason and emotion, vision and reality so that every design becomes a living dialogue between the land, the people, and the future.

U (Unity - Thuận - 順)

“順” means to follow the natural order to flow with the rhythm of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity. At UPD, design begins with listening to the land, the people, and the spirit of place. We create spaces that adapt to their context, embrace change, and grow in harmony with time.

P (Prudence - Thiết - 設)

“設” conveys the meaning of establishing, creating, and designing with thoughtfulness and precision. Every line, proportion, and material is crafted with care and foresight. We believe that true creativity is not chaos, but wisdom made visible through form.

D (Devotion - Thành - 誠)

“誠” stands for sincerity the moral essence of both human conduct and design. It is the devotion that transforms creation into culture, and structure into soul. Through honesty, empathy, and respect, we build not only spaces, but enduring values that inspire generations.

In addition to national achievements, Mr. Tuan, CEO of UPD, was honored by the Tamayouz Excellence Award jury for the exceptional quality of his architectural graduation project. His work was recognized as one of the Top Young Architects of 2023. This prestigious international award highlighted Mr. Tuan’s design talent and forward-thinking approach.

 


Mr. Tuan, CEO of UPD, was officially recognized in People’s Deputies Newspaper (Báo Đại biểu Nhân dân) – the national publication of the National Assembly of Vietnam. This honor reflects his outstanding contributions to the fields of architecture, design, and cultural preservation.



The project “Thập Tam Trại – An Experiential Space for Preserving and Developing Hanoi’s Craft Villages” by Ms. Nguyet was honored with the First Prize at the Loa Thanh Awards, recognizing it as one of the most outstanding graduation projects in Vietnam.


UPD DESIGN DIRECTOR ENGAGES IN GLOBAL KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE WITH MIT AND HARVARD STUDENTS

As Design Director at UPD, Ms. Nguyet bridges global design perspectives, engaging in exchanges with MIT and Harvard students. She is currently advancing her expertise through a Master’s program at Southeast University, the foremost design university in China.
